Mac_32Windows_32Linux_32 How To Solve Any Computer Problem

Dear various parents, grandparents, co-workers and other "not computer people,"

We don't magically know how to do everything in every program. When we help you, we are usually just doing this:

  1. Step 1
    Find a menu item or button which looks related to what you wanted to do.

    Did you find one? If yes go to #3. If you cant find one go to #2.

  2. Step 2
    Pick a menu item or button at random.

    If you've already tried them all go to step #4. If not, when you've found one go to step #3.

  3. Step 3
    Click it.

    Did it work? If Yes, Go to #7 If no go to #5.

  4. Step 4
    Google the name of the program plus a few words related to what you want to do.

    When you find a link that looks promising, follow any instructions it gives you.

    Did it work? If so go to #7. If not go to #5

  5. Step 5
    Have you been trying this for over half an hour?

    If no go to step #1. If yes go to step #6

  6. Step 6
    Go ask someone for help.

    Sorry! We all need a little help sometimes!

  7. Step 7
    You're done!

    Congrats! You did it all by yourself!

  8. Step 8
    Please print this flowchart out and tape it near your screen.

    Congratulations! You're now the local computer expert.
